Moving from Phoenix to Austin, TX

Camelback Moving is a Phoenix-based interstate moving company (US DOT #1635834) that relocates households and businesses from Phoenix, Arizona to Austin, Texas. The drive from Phoenix to Austin covers approximately 1,000 miles down the I-10 East corridor, and we quote the route as a flat-rate binding estimate: a guaranteed dollar figure agreed in writing before your truck is loaded, not an hourly meter that runs until the job ends.

Trading the Valley of the Sun for the Live Music Capital of the World is a major transition. Interstate moving is also an industry historically plagued by moving scams, hidden fees, and delayed deliveries. Since 2005, Camelback Moving has completed over 70,000 relocations and logged nearly 6 million fleet miles by doing things differently. We are not a broker. Your Phoenix to Austin move is not farmed out to the lowest bidder, and it is not staffed with day labor.

Our motto is simple: Preserving Sanity One Move at a Time.

How Long Does a Phoenix to Austin Move Take?

The drive from Phoenix to Austin is roughly 15 hours of straight driving across approximately 1,000 miles. Commercial moving trucks are subject to federally mandated rest breaks, so transit is scheduled around driver hours of service rather than raw drive time.

Because Camelback Moving is a Phoenix-based carrier rather than a national van line consolidating multiple households onto one trailer, we offer much shorter itineraries and delivery windows on the Phoenix to Austin route. Your belongings are not sitting in a hub waiting for a load heading your direction, and your life is not put on hold waiting for your furniture to arrive.

Your specific delivery window is confirmed in writing along with your binding estimate.

The Route: I-10 East from Phoenix to Austin

When you hire a moving company, you want to know exactly where your belongings are and how long they will be on the road. The most direct path from Phoenix to Austin takes our trucks straight down I-10 East. We head through Tucson, cut across the long stretch of West Texas through El Paso, and take US-290 right into the Texas Hill Country to Austin.

At Camelback Moving, our fleet has logged nearly 6 million miles and our drivers know the I-10 corridor like the back of their hands. Phoenix to Austin is a route we run regularly, not an occasional one-off.

How to Prepare for Your Move from Phoenix to Austin

In Phoenix, before load day. Confirm truck access and parking at your origin. If you live in a gated community, an HOA-managed property, or a high rise, reserve the freight elevator and clear any certificate of insurance requirements with building management ahead of time. Our crews are specialized for any size residential move including high rises and staging services.

In Austin, before delivery day. If your moving truck will occupy street parking or the right of way, you may need a City of Austin Right-of-Way parking permit. The permit covers temporary loading and unloading of non-construction materials, requires that you notify all adjacent properties, and must be requested at least three business days before the date you need it, with payment made at least two business days before. Full details are on the City of Austin Right-of-Way Permits page. Check with your building or HOA as well, since many Austin neighborhoods have their own residential parking rules.

Waivers. We require customers to sign our Appliance and Flat Panel TV Waiver before we disconnect or reconnect appliances, and we highly recommend that you closely oversee the first time you run your appliances to prevent water leaks. If we are performing load only services without transportation, you will be required to sign our Care and Custody waiver before the start of our services.

Coverage. We offer basic liability coverage on every move, with full value protection available. We highly suggest reviewing our valuation and insurance options before load day rather than on it.
